Debra "Debbie" McKibben - VOSCO
Debra McKibben is the 2018 President-Elect
Debbie has been in the insurance business for over 30 years and began her career in the file room at Prudential Property & Casualty in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Within a few years, she worked her way up the ranks to become an Underwriter. A job transfer for her husband, Bill, brought the family to Maryland in 1992. Debbie joined AIG shortly thereafter and began, again, climbing the ranks moving through a succession of roles with increasing responsibility culminating in her position as VP of International Personal Lines. After 24 years with AIG, she found herself looking for a new challenge as her business segment was discontinued in early 2017. Debbie soon found a perfect opportunity to expand her insurance knowledge by joining Victor O. Schinnerer & Company (VOSCO) where she is currently VP, Senior Underwriting Manager of the mid-size firms team for Professional Liability.
Debbie earned her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2017 and when asked what her motivation was for achieving this goal, she said "I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to get the designation, but life got in the way and I kept getting terrific opportunities to advance at work, so CPCU kind of got put on the back burner. When I found out I was going to have to begin a new job search I was looking for every advantage I could get and I knew that a CPCU designation would set me apart. I got the training done in less than one year and I know having the designation helped open doors."
Debbie transferred to our CPCU Chapter from the Brandywine Valley CPCU Chapter after she joined Schinnerer last year. She is eager to play an active role in our organization and is looking to "give back" to her colleagues in the insurance industry.
In her spare time, Debbie enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, cooking, and landscaping. She lives in Chevy Chase, MD during the work week and commutes on the weekends to her home in Newark, DE. She has been married for 37 years to her husband, Bill, and they have one daughter, Lisa.
